The Biblical Plan of Salvation vs. The Mainstream View

What was discussed previously! The original Biblical Plan of Salvation:

1. Repent (turn away from your sins).

2. Birth of Water - Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (for remission of sins).

3. Birth of Spirit - Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Evidence: speaking in tongues).

When I heard this message, my first response was “What? I thought all you had to do was pray this prayer. If this is what the word of God says, then why haven’t I heard about this before?” I looked back on how I had gone to church all my life. I began to question “Why didn’t they tell me? Why didn’t they tell me???” And it hit me like a brick in the face! That’s what is missing in my life!

”I said, “Get me in that water, and I’m going to be re-baptized in Jesus’ name.”

Note: When Matthew 28:19 says: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

We know that it is only talking about one name. What is the name of the Father?

--John 5:43 “I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” Also see John 10:25

What is the name of the Son?

--John 20:31 “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing ye might have life through his name.” See John 10:25

--Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

What is the name of the Holy Ghost?

--John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” See Luke 1:35 There is only one name by which we must be saved.

--Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. The Night I was baptized in Jesus’ Name

When I was 11-years-old I was baptized in the titles Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and nothing happened. But when I was baptized in Jesus’ name in May 26, 2002, something happened in that water. When I came up out of that water, I felt clean and pure. There was no longer any guilt of my past on me. It was washed away. People were praising and worshiping God afterward. My pastor, Rod Foster, told me to lift up my hands and thank God. I did just that and I felt the glory of God’s presence all over me. As I was worshiping Him, I sought for the Holy Ghost but did not yet receive it until a week later.
