Forget the beauty pageant. Give me the nerdy pageant!

Updated: Aug 4

Embracing intellectual brilliance over superficial beauty!

In a world where traditional beauty pageants have long held the spotlight, it's time to shine a light on a new kind of competition—one that celebrates intellect, passion, and creativity over physical appearance.

One of the tactics of the enemy is to provide us with idols with artificial beauty and to use them as examples of what it is to look perfect so that we are never content with our own unique appearances. And in turn we compare our looks with how others look. The nerdy pageant, however; is different. It encourages empowerment by challenging one's intellect, building character, and knowledge.

Enter the Nerdy Pageant, a platform where brains take center stage, and geeks, tech enthusiasts, and pop culture aficionados can proudly showcase their knowledge and interests.

And before moving on, why is it important to raise awareness for these unusual personality types, being smart, being a genius, possessing special gifts and talents, and stepping out to be different, unique, and a non-conformist.

Let me explain further. I'll have to point out that nerds weren't considered to be "cool" in the 1980s and the 1990s. Even in today's world we may have a hard time putting ourselves out there with our unique showcase due to the scrutiny. But we can't let the criticism of others define us or control how we live our lives.

The thing about this world is that it doesn't actually recognize talent. It doesn't recognize the spiritual things that come from God like anointing. It doesn't recognize calling. And I will say that even about churches that are non-discerning and world conforming. But so many people are waking up to this. They realize they have a special calling that they've had on their life.

I'll have to say, during my grade school days, I was bullied for being a nerd. I was the nerdiest kid I knew. This was heart wrenching and I'll tell you why. I was bullied for wearing glasses. I was the little girl that was called "ugly" or "stupid". Why? Because I wasn't considered "cool". Nerds were bullied, trash canned, called names, misunderstood, teased, and a whole lot of other things. And that cut deep for me.

Never apologized for being your authentic self. If people don't like how you act, how you look, how you speak, that just means those people are not for you. Don't change who you are to match your surroundings. Pick better surroundings and be your authentic self, the you God created.

I'll say the one good change from that is the realization that nerds are not only super cool, but something to be celebrated! Heck! We need a National Nerd's Day. Maybe even a nerd fest. We got to get this going, guys.

Here we'll explore why a nerdy pageant would be so much better than a beauty pageant and dive into some exciting ideas for nerdy challenges that could make this competition truly epic. So straighten out your nerd bomber glasses and let's delve in!

Celebrating Nerdy Authenticity:

One little girl said one time: (("God is a nerd!"))

Well... we were made in his image. And I guess some people reflect that more than other people.

So why do nerds get bullied so much? Some people, mainly the ones you reach out to and share your thoughts with; will see how you are shaking things up, and some of them don't like seeing that. Some people may be jealous of you, and certain family members may think you are crazy. Certain friends suddenly don't want to hang out with you because, lets just be honest; they feel intimidated by someone who has a powerful calling on your life or a special gift. When you are up, some people want to bring you down. That is to be expected.

In contrast, Beauty pageants often revolve around conforming to certain beauty standards, which often perpetuate unrealistic ideals. The Nerdy Pageant, on the other hand, encourages contestants to be unapologetically themselves. It's a place where quirky interests, unique hobbies, and individuality are not only accepted but celebrated.

Showcasing Intellectual Brilliance:

The heart of the Nerdy Pageant lies in knowledge, intelligence, and passion. Contestants can demonstrate their expertise in fields like science, technology, literature, mathematics, history, and more. Imagine contestants engaging in heated debates, solving complex problems, or presenting groundbreaking research!

This could be a way to help those with special talents and gifts to feel celebrated and to bring light to something that has been misunderstood for so long!

Embracing Nerd Diversity:

The demand of conformity in a world that promotes a cookie cutter worldview is prevalent, even today when standing out also means putting a target on your back for bullies. In high school, I did my best to keep a low profile to avoid the bullying I dealt with in grade school.

But I didn't let that stop me from doing the exact opposite of what I was being taught as "normal". This is where the beauty of diversity comes into fruition, when one has the courage to step out of that demand of conformity. Nerds are simply misunderstood and uniquely gifted people, or those with particular interests who do not meet those criteria of "fitting in" and are usually those who are singled out for some difference they have that is set apart, unique, and peculiar! For example: That may include studying classical piano instead of guitar, or taking a special interest in computer coding instead of being a football player. They are usually deemed as nerds or "uncool".

Beauty pageants often fall short in representing diverse backgrounds and interests. A nerdy pageant transcends cultural and physical boundaries, allowing individuals from all walks of life to participate and shine. It's a global celebration of the power of knowledge.

Nerd Challenging Competitions:

Now, let's delve into some exciting nerdy challenges that can make the competition thrilling:

a. Trivia Battles: Contestants could go head-to-head in trivia contests on topics ranging from classic literature to comic book lore.

b. Invention Showcase: Participants can present their innovative creations, whether it's a new gadget, a software application, or a unique piece of art.

c. Coding Challenges: Test the coding skills of the contestants with real-world programming problems.

d. Cosplay Showdown: Allow participants to showcase their creative cosplay talents and craftsmanship.

e. Puzzle Solving: Put their problem-solving abilities to the test with intricate puzzles and riddles.

  1. Nerd-Centric Talent Show: Instead of traditional talents, why not have contestants display their nerdy skills? From impressive magic tricks with a scientific twist to musical compositions inspired by video games, the possibilities are endless.

  2. Passionate Advocacy: The Nerdy Pageant can incorporate a platform for contestants to advocate for causes they are passionate about, whether it's promoting STEM education, raising awareness about environmental issues, or supporting mental health initiatives.

  3. The Ultimate Prize for the Ultimate Nerd: The winner of the Nerdy Pageant could earn the title of "Supreme Nerd," along with scholarships, opportunities to speak at conferences, or even a chance to collaborate with leading tech companies or research institutions.

In conclusion, the Nerdy Pageant is a celebration of knowledge, passion, and authenticity—a refreshing departure from the traditional beauty pageant model. It's time to embrace a competition that encourages individuals to proudly declare, "I am the nerdiest person on Earth," and to let their intellectual brilliance shine. So, forget the beauty pageant and join the movement to celebrate the ultimate nerds of the world!
