We are all familiar about the Roman Catholic view on the Trinity. At least most of us. The belief in 3 god persons in one trinity can be very confusing. I grew up being taught this concept. However, there can be no other God but one. The Bible even talks about that.
--Isaiah 43:11
You are My witnesses," declares the LORD, "And My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me. 11"I, even I, am the LORD, And there is no savior besides Me. 12"It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, And there was no strange god among you; So you are My witnesses," declares the LORD,
To my discovery there are also those who say they believe in the Trinity but don't really believe in 3 gods. Infact, there are those who (while they say they hold to the Trinitarian position) who actually believe the same as the Biblical Christians do (though they use the term trinity to describe it), which is very peculiar. And then there are those who are flat out tri-thiestic. So this is not to demean anyone's faith or belief, nor anyone else's experience with God. This was to explain my misunderstanding about who God was, and how he revealed himself to me. I will be posting more on this subject soon!
Proverbs 14:15 “The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps.” How I Found the Truth: At this point I lost my faith in all my teachers, and even the Bible. I began to question “Is this book true and real, or is it just a bunch of wishful thinking?” I cleared my mind of all preconceived ideas and religious beliefs I was taught in the past. Because of all of the confusion in my mind, a question came up. “What is the truth?” When I got to my dorm room that night, I cried out to God: “Lord, I am so confused. I don’t know what to believe because there are so many different beliefs; but what is the truth? Lord, show me the truth!” I knew that there could not be as many ways to God as there were religions out there, and if there is only one God, there can be only one truth. · --Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” It was after that when the Lord started revealing some things to me. The very next day, I was on my way to the wreck room where all the young people would go for entertainment, and I was depressed. I was still angry because of the heartbreak I was going through. A young man I was acquainted with walked up to me and began to ask me some questions. “Hello. I see you've been down and out. What’s going on?” I began to tell him (Salvador) about my heartbreak and all my other problems that I couldn't seem to overcome. “Well, God can help you rise above those things. He is everything you've been searching for.” “I have had that said to me so many times, and I know that there is a God and that He loves me. He even told me so.” I said to him. But what I couldn't figure out was why I felt empty, why I couldn't overcome my problems and struggles, why I kept falling into one snare after another. Salvador, the young man; began to talk to me about the Bible, God’s word, and how I can overcome my problems and struggles through applying it to my life and obeying it. It was like the Lord was trying to show that His word was true after all, and for it to direct my path and benefit me, I must know it and obey it. ·
--John 17:17 “Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth.”
The Lord also put on my heart to go to a different church. So I decided to do that. By the time we reached the wreck room, we sat down at a table and had a discussion about who God was. There were some issues discussed such as “One God”, and “Biblical Salvation”. I didn't quite grasp what he was saying about the salvation part because it was not something that was taught to me all my life. Also, he and this lady got into a discussion about who God was and is. This lady was a Tri-theistic Trinitarian. She was trying to convince Salvador that God was three separate persons. He told her, “I don’t believe in the trinity.” He then was trying to explain to her that there is only one God, and the word trinity is not in the Bible. “He doesn't believe in a trinity?” I questioned to myself. “I never heard of such a thing in my life!” All of the churches I have ever been to at that time all taught that God was a trinity of persons, but the Bible says: “ God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
--John 4:24 “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; ”
--Ephesians 4:4 “But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. ”
--1 Corinthians 12:11 " Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. ”
-- 2 Corinthians 3:17 “The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
--Acts 10:36 · “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:.”
